Question for #percussion players: how feasible is it to play marimba and 3 or 4 toms at the same time? This is for a small-orchestra part for one player. What I’ve written so far uses only marimba and vibes, but I’m thinking it could be good to have some drums too. Where it gets tricky is that for one section I’m imagining a complicated groove texture spread across marimba and drums together for a sustained period—so they all have to be within comfortable reach. Is that doable?
