friend of mine is very large and has bad knees. and it's nothing to do with her weight; she's got some sort of hereditary degenerative thing in the knees going on that would be happening regardless of her weight. but doctor after doctor kept telling her "just lose weight."

after moving to a different state and finding new health care all over again, she had a doctor actually recognize the situation and instead of shaming her, he was super fucking kind and affirmed the fact that it's not the weight but rather the degenerative process, and was really nice to her about it.

she told me she cried when he said that.
