It's weird but I've seen people across the technical knowledge range struggle with Mastodon's verification which uses something _more_ people are used to
UX is often counterintuitive and that's why it's important to have real people test your assumptions so you can go back and make it better. Even as someone with The Knowledge, I find adding a TXT record easier than adding stuff to a web page.
