Not why I do it, but the traffic to my blog is fascinating...
About 70% of my traffic comes from my Ligotti and Lovecraft stuff. Week in and week out, there is a clear audience for that content and I get emails all the time thanking me (I suspect it's a lot of kids who have been assigned stuff to write about in class).
The #ttrpg stuff accounts for about 60% of the energy that goes into the blog but only about 20% of the traffic.
