I mean, career system of Mongoose sounds actually way more accurate and fun after you cut out the assignments. Just like, be a Scientist and explain it as you like based on skills and events and mishaps instead of being tied to one of the options. Options that seem lacking and not fill everything you might want but also deciding on your roles and having meaning as such.
It is nice to look at Classic and be tied specifically to the military. It paints totally different story about the setting.
