Ooh, just learned how to do the long tail cast on, and it's great. My first row always looks very messy when using the simple cast on, and that's just not going to be good enough for making nice neat squares for the blanket I'm planning. Long tail = much neater result. I'll practice that a bit with some scrap yarn and get cracking soon on the nice blue yarn I've got for my first batch of squares.
