For my next project (a single button game with an IPS display, custom enclosure max current draw ~500mA at 3.3V) I considered going with a Li-Po like an Eemb 2000mAH Li-Po commonly found on Amazon which features a protection circuit (over-charge/discharge/short-circuit), plus either a buck/LDO converter or one of those TP4056 boards.
However, while this makes for a light and compact device, it appears too unsafe for use by a child.
Should I go Ni-Mh AA instead?
