One aspect of this whole thing I haven’t seen explicitly stated much, is that journalists are brokers of information. They are vectors through which power is channeled and in that they themselves wield power. People justifiably hate them because they understand that 20 people in the NYTimes orbit shouldn’t be the means through which truth is validated.
