I was fascinated by the idea I could hear another voice over radio and that it had other uses outside of broadcast radio stations.

One year during the annual browse through the catalogue to look for a Christmas present I came across a PMR 446 "base" and handheld kit which my Grandparents bought me. I remember being able to speak to my sister and I was amazed by this truly wireless communication method.
