Seriously, don't make Discord the only communication for your community.
And yeah, other platforms like Telegram, X, Reddit, etc, are not better. Just use IRC. That's the simplest way to access communication. Or set up a self-hosted discourse, although I despise that as well for being Javascript-heavy.
