The main vectors for this media manipulation are DataFarming platforms like FarceBook. But I've also seen ideologically slanted articles and paid features in rural papers. Rural communities have little natural immunity to these media viruses.
Our urban communities have been targeted too, of course. But they benefit from a wider range of overlapping, in-person social networks, independent media projects, etc, that make it harder completely flood urban mediaspheres with one set of ideas.
