On one hand its great to hear Lisa Nandy commit to supporting the arts... but on the other the instrumental view that justifies support of the arts as contributors to economic growth, is an invitation to downplay the actual social worth of the arts.... when the arts' benefits are treated as GDP-fodder or monetised in their health benefits the view(s) of art & creativity become a little threadbare & narrow.

But on the other hand, support is support!
