There are some who see violence as thing to be avoided even if them not engaging in violence causes more harm.
There are some who don't like violence perse, but see it as a necessity to achieve certain goals, always see it with suspicion even when it needs to be used, whether they use it (or) work with someone else who uses it.
Then there are those who start with same position as above but starts liking violence.
First path is problematic because it's nothing but cloacking one's impotence in feel good flowery rhetoric.
Third path is problematic too because it makes people lose sight of what's right & wrong, what's proportional & what's not, and violence has its own way of expanding the scope of the problem and leads people down bad paths.
