I hate how the meta, specifically the high end meta, tends to ruin online gaming.
Example: Character Z has a high learning curve, but is very effective in late game meta - possibly because balance, possibly just to git gud with Z you have to play quite a lot. Since Z mains win more matches in high end games, other players demand you pick Z instead of your preferred character - one you are actually fucking goid with - or be accused of throwing. Then the developers drop a balance patch to nerf Z, which does little to the high skilled pro-level Z players but makes the learning curve for those starting even worse, until you are facing a learning cliff instead. So now you are stuck playing this frustrating, unrewarding character all because a bunch of silver-rank scrubs still think they'll be the next Ninja.
