Nuts, seeds, beans and grains contain:
—Trypsin inhibitors which inhibit protein digestion
—Polyunsaturated fatty acids which decrease thyroid function, decrease digestive enzymes and interfere with mitochondrial energy production.
—Anti-nutrients like oxalates, phytates and lectins.
Nuts, beans and grains are all seeds.
Seeds are plants “babies”. Plants do not want any animals, birds or insects to eat their babies; so they discourage this by making toxic chemicals and putting them in their seeds.
In contrast fruits are the means by which some plants disperse their seeds. The plant wants its fruit to be eaten so the plants put only nutritious things in their fruit and no toxins. This is why fruit tastes good. Cooked lentils (with no added flavouring) taste terrible.
