I’ve been researching meshtastic for cars. More or less the only good solution is to magnetic connect an entire node to your roof or drill a hole in your roof because there is so much loss in a cable with a low power signal. Even if you have a good vehicle mount none of the vehicle antennas are that good especially in urban environments. Several of the people with roof mount antenna said it was barely noticeably better than a hand held unit with a good antenna that doesn’t need a ground plane.
