I'm not sure private companies are doing much better. It's the drive to maximize profits, in any form, that leads to the sociopaths running things.

Though, I agree moving away from shareholder capitalism to stakeholder capitalism (as you describe) would be a big step in fixing the broken system and backwards incentives.
