HSBC will be exploring zero knowledge proofs for identity, privacy, and scaling programmability in e-HKD on public ledgers - Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon, and Linea. This may show Hong Kong the benefits in considering public ledgers and self custody in addition to custodial private ledgers. Perhaps one day the HKMA may consider backing HKD in part with Bitcoin. It is a journey.
I’m particularly excited about the privacy token aspects. It will be a lively discussion.
