i think that what would happen was actually that he would get extremely addicted to this world media and just stop his life and fall for something like games, synthetic drugs, pharmacological, digital media overdosis destroying his dopamine and etc
as it actually happens with amish when they do the "rumspringa" and get to stay on urban places; they often choose to be on this urban life, then see the suffering of it and then 80% to 90% go back to amish tradition.
