There have been pushes for the pentagon to be audited for years to find out where there money is actually going and last time it was going to happen, the auditor office at the pentagon was hit by one of the 9/11 planes.
Just so happened to occur the day after Donald Rumsfeld (Then sec of defence under Bush jr) mentioned in press conference that the defence department had 2.3Trillion USD missing in their finances. Rather strange.
