I am generally optimistic about us as a species pulling off an energy and climate transition, but these charts from David Hostert at the #BNEFSummit , showing the "brutal maths" of required emissions cuts for 1.75 degrees C, are fucking terrifying.

[Edited to add "for 1.75 degrees C". I mean, if we miss that, 2C is still better than 2.6C. And btw 2.6C is the Economic Transition Scenario].
