US elections are quite pleasant to watch in NZ, as our evenings are the US's midnight and later. And at 1am, somewhere or other their time, is when they said Harris wouldn't be making an appearance until the morning. At that point, the writing was on the wall that Trump had won, but he was still 10-something points short of the 270 he needed to win. So that late at night may have seemed the wrong time to concede. So do it in the morning after a lot of tired and unhappy people have sort of got back to work again.
