phil on Nostr: I never really interacted much on social media before finding Nostr. I would ...

I never really interacted much on social media before finding Nostr. I would occasionally post for a small group of family and friends on Facebook, most of whom I knew in real life. I tried posting on Instagram and X/Twitter but it felt like it was a competition to be seen and I wasn’t interested in playing that game.

I never really felt like I was doomscrolling though until I tried TikTok. I never posted anything there but the algorithm would feed me content that I was interesting in clicking on but subtly negative. I noticed this was affecting the way I was feeling so stopped using it.

Nostr has been a completely different experience for me. It doesn’t feel competitive when posting making it easier to share genuine thoughts. If something I post doesn’t get engagement then it doesn’t matter to me. I’ve also personally experienced very little negativity here. Having control over the feed means that it is much easier to avoid and doesn’t get amplified.
Legacy social media has ruined so many people's thoughts on interacting online.

How many of you have heard people say I hate using Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, etc. and then continue to endlessly doomscroll.

That's not healthy.
