Seems more a matter of world view through a very long lens of history - at the philosophical level. Cultural, religious and historically violent clashes over land and sovereignty in a more concrete sense. Each side feels justified and forced into a last stand mentality, or is able to use the feeling to good effect, while many powerful external forces are playing at “geopolitic”…but they continually manage to fuck things up for everyone but the arms dealers, bankers and lobbyists.
