gav (nprofile…f6e6) Curiosity is a sin, tho ppl like to forget this now. Problem with wanting to know things just to know things apart from doing anything good with the knowledge, is that at best it becomes an exercise in mental masturbation & cerebral hedonism, but this opens the door to delusion. One, with too strong of a lust for knowledge, finds he gets the same pleasure from false positives as real ones. & it's v easy for a man who jumped to a conclusion to rationalize away all the problems with it. Especially in these days of increased abstraction in thought, where one can spin up any set of axioms to "justify" a conclusion, no matter how fake it is. Which ends up cementing error as delusion, so even when ppl try to do something good with their "knowledge", well, if it's fake knowledge, whatever good they try to do is going to be misaimed.
