I came across a story recently that moved me. It is a story about war, or more specifically, about the futility and frustration that war inevitably involves.
It's too small of a story to get into the history books, but I felt like it was worth telling. So I am going to tell it here.
My main source for this is an article by Arthur W. Connor Jr., published by the magazine of the U.S. Army War College, Parameters, in 1992. It draws on the official records of the units involved.
