I also want to emphasise that though I've been running #Linux since 2007, I am almost completely ignorant of what's under the hood. I've hardly ever used the command line. Nor have I had to buy any software. I am living proof that it's possible to be a happy, productive and ignorant Linux user without a software engineering degree.
