The major takeaway from this is how Wagner is different from the regular Russian forces. Firstly, they actually have a meritocracy and relatively little corruption, because they are a results-based organisation. Secondly they have a lot of veteran commanders low down in the ranks - and as a corollary to this they actually have mission command, allowing these experienced unit officers to have a large degree of autonomy.
