I find it calming and reassuring to stand momentarily in the predawn darkness of my quiet street, and look up into the sky.

There are stars there. If the clouds are dragged aside, I see the dog running at the feet of the hunter, the horns of the bull, and the twins with the ecliptic passing close by.

I stare at the Moon rushing past Venus, and I try to correctly imagine the motions. Venus around the Sun, the Moon around the Earth, and my spot on our dirt ball rolling toward dawn.
