Reminds me of secretly running Ubuntu in a fullscreened VM on my workstation at my first job. Had a boss-key assigned to switch to a "busy" Windows desktop just in case.
Blew apart when I had to ssh into a server during an outage and I hadn't rolled out the barely used ssh keys of the Windows box to the new server that was now making trouble. Had to quickly switch to Ubuntu and my boss just gave me and amused smirk. Everyone was allowed to run Linux afterwards, lol.
That was before we had good configuration management and automation was mostly shell or Perl scripts and cronjobs.
Don't know how people can work with Windows. Its like an old city: Wherever you go, look or bury, there's always ancient forgotten stuff leaking through, if you have the eyes to see it. Can't be unseen either.

quoting nevent1q…xsljLinux is my safe space.
(WSL is a blessing on an agressive win 11 work laptop)
