And partly they’re right: Stillman’s argument for international hegemony and interventions has been to protect American businesses operating abroad. But one might ask, why not hire private armies to do that? It's not about defending a country's borders; it's about having the right to protect a business abroad. Private armies would likely have been more peace-driven, as they had no incentive to conquer for political reasons, and they would have been much more efficient.

Yet, in his great piece The Betrayal of the American Right, Rothbard goes beyond merely condemning U.S. foreign policy—he SOLELY blames the U.S. and even exonerates the Soviets for their crimes during the Cold War! And I'm like come on Murray, Be open minded but not so much that I quote from his book:
"... the United States (with the aid of Britain) was solely responsible for the Cold War, in a continuing harassment and aggression against a Soviet Union whose foreign policy had been almost pathetic in its yearning for peace with the West at virtually any price."
