I think in a similar way to how it's possible to discuss stories (I'm thinking of anime) by relating it to either other stories or trying to understand it from a meta perspective, western normalfags can't help but do relate everything to their ideological interests. This isn't a bad thing in itself but the things they relate it to are either against the spirit of whatever they're consuming or plain ugly.
