Well, yes, no charges had been filed because the investigation wasn't complete and that's how Sweden does things. In the absence of information about what these other 44 cases allegedly were, it's hard to know how much relevance they have.

And when the US finally decided they wanted Assange extradited, they just did it in the UK! There was no need to involve Sweden at all, and it would have been *harder* to ask for extradition there since the UK would also have to agree
