I grew up and lived on the southside of Chicago for almost 40 years. A beautiful little oasis of a strong Irish neighborhood. Surrounded by orcs, who, during the 90s wouldn’t dare do anything more than quietly drive through with their doors locked. Never even consider stepping a foot on the pavement. There was an intense “give no fucks” White Power presence. Then the 2000s rolled around and yuppies started buying up double lots, knocking down existing homes and building McMansions. Fast forward to the late teens, and you had 12yr old chimps carjacking moms and daughters unloading groceries in their driveway.
I packed my kids up and moved 1800 miles away, leaving roots that extended into the 1850s.
