If it can't work for me being in the lesser fucked bucket nationally, what makes you think it's going to work for the greater bucket of people more fucked than me?
Government will buy, because they can do exactly what you said to prevent people from stacking, while they are.
Then, when the times right (when they control most of it in the future) they will say bitcoin is actually money(well prolly be dead or close to it) and there won't be any of this new money left for people to get and they will once again have to rely on government, for money, but its bitcoin this time.
It's only chance was to get in the hands of everyone before government did.
