Working retail for the first time in 20 years has opened my eyes to how warped Americans' values and perspectives are. Some people really do walk around thinking about nothing but consuming, snatching up "deals" on things they don't even need, like candy and soda. Not to mention all the health issues resulting.
It's like spending and consuming is a peak experience that they've become addicted to.
