Mistletoe is weird. It’s a parasite. The seeds are sticky, adhering to tree branches when spread by birds. They grow a root through the bark and tap into the tree for water and nutrients. Growing on the tree, it looks for all the world like part of the tree, because it so thoroughly integrates itself.
