I both agree and disagree. to some extent, I wouldn't have the knowledge I do now without having ran a node and made several mistakes along the way for the last 2 years. however, the avg user and a far younger version of myself would have tossed in the towel on the first couple of mistakes and just turned to cold storage only rather than putting sats to work. The fear of losses by making mistakes turns most off and can burn opportunities that some basic preemptive research can avoid.

so yeah, get messy, but get your research foundation a bit solid before doing so, if that makes sense.
