If you think I'm against Fediblocks, this is incorrect. In fact, I used Fediblock just a few days ago.
I also think it would be a positive development for certain servers to adopt an "opt-in" infrastructure where participating servers apply to join.
All that is fine.
But that's not the version of the Fediverse that I, myself, would prefer to participate in -- and it's fully within my right to wish to engage with a broader Fediverse than a narrower Fediverse.
And the reason is not only because I choose to interact with Bluesky and Meta, but so that people on Bluesky and Meta are aware that there's a Fediverse beyond those two entities, and it's possible to exist without them.
People should also know that leaving Bluesky and Meta doesn't mean abandoning their friends, family, and support networks.
And they should likewise know that safety does not mean having to exist in isolation.
