Hello Teachers!

If you've been teaching for more than 10 years, I'd love to hear your observations on how children's learning, ability, attention, and specifically their ability to tolerate boredom and frustration, have changed over the last 10 years.

I'm working with kids again after having not done much of that in several years, and it feels like kids at the same age are almost universally performing at a lower level, less frustration tolerant, and generally less able to cope with boredom than the kids I worked with in the past.

But I'm in a different part of the country now than I was before, and working with a different socioeconomic group than I was previously, and I've also grown more easily frustrated lately, so I can't tell if this is just a demographic difference, or just a Me difference, or if kids are, on average, just angrier, less frustration tolerant, and worse at being bored than in previous generations.

I don't want to be an old man yelling at the clouds.
