Today in the world is a wild place:
Bluesky just raised a bunch of money to keep their devs paid and services running. Congrats to them!
But they raised a series A led by a VC literally named "Blockchain Capital". Since that's exactly as bad as it sounds, they hedged pretty hard in the press release:
"The Bluesky app and the AT Protocol do not use blockchains or cryptocurrency, and we will not hyperfinancialize the social experience (through tokens, crypto trading, NFTs, etc.)."
But here's the super wild part: Paul Frazee, a Bluesky developer speaking on behalf on the whole team, says they totally understand the enshittification cycle. No really. They're just hoping to just get a few good years out of the whole thing before it sinks.

So enjoy Bluesky for the next few years or so. It's fun, right? It's has v i b e s. But don't get too attached to it I guess?
I mean, sure. That's what we're all thinking, right? But it's another thing entirely to hear it directly from the devs.
