Many decades ago people still held values and morals in high regard; nowadays we’re just a sensory-overloaded, efficiency-driven, profit-seeking bunch; efficiency and profit maximization are intrinsically amoral and work best when morality is not taken into account.

During the great wars of the 20th century, propaganda was unbridled, as it is today, however, the way propaganda works has changed, and this change has everything to do with amoral societies; before, propaganda worked on the basis of social consensus and the scarcity of information sources; nowadays, with the abundance of information and narratives, the only critical factor left to consider is social consensus.

In the multicultural world of the mid-20th century, the only sensible and undeniable cohesive ideology amongst nations was a humane morality, thus, social consensus was rooted in a humane right-and-wrong; this has been taken from us, and we too, complicit, have consented to chuck it out of our lives in exchange for a chance to bask in digital over-stimulation.
