For many jobs what matters is that the communications mechanisms are there. In many badly run businesses all the critical information flows via the lavatories, coffee and after work gossip so that can be a problem online. Equally online workers given the right tools build very good networks but can leave the office staff out.
The social thing I don't buy at all. WfH means you've got far more time to socialize outside of work
