Harry Clarke (1889-1931) was an Irish artist who created many stained glass windows. His work is known for its rich colors, fine details, and innovative designs.

Work
Geneva Window: Commissioned in 1926 by the Irish Free State as a gift to the League of Nations in Geneva, but never installed. It is now in the Wolfsonian–FIU in Miami Beach.

Stained glass windows for religious and commercial commissions: Created for commissions in Ireland, England, the USA, and Australia.

Book illustrations: Illustrated books for Harrap and Co. in London.

Style
Used deep, rich colors
Delicately depicted elongated figures with finely carved features and deep expressive eyes.

Integrated the window leading as part of the overall design.

Used heavy lines in his black-and-white book illustrations.

Legacy
Clarke is considered one of Ireland's best loved artists and had a profound impact on Irish art. His stained glass work is internationally recognized for its quality craftsmanship and imaginative genius.

These windows are located in the Catholic churches of Balbriggan, Donabate, Lusk, Naul and Oldtown, in the Church of Ireland church in Castleknock.

Those that were in the chapel of the former Oblate Father’s residence and school in Belcamp are currently in storage for their protection but will be re-instated once possible to do so.

The windows in the other buildings can all be viewed during the hours that the churches are open to the public (some opening hours are limited to times around services).
