This week’s film is Kubrick’s masterpiece Barry Lyndon (1975). Beautifully shot this tale of an 18th century Irish rogue’s social ascent, based on the 1844 novel The Luck of Barry Lyndon by William Thackeray, is both tragic and funny in equal measure.
