Too many people on the Fediverse are scared about what happens next with it. We need a refresher on why the doubters have got it all wrong.

From the moment ActivityPub became a thing, the Tech Press kept saying the phrase, "I just don't see it happening". And they still keep saying this. Just last week, Android Authority "just couldn't see" the RedditMigration happening -- and yet it's happened.

People said that the Fediverse couldn't survive Jack Dorsey's opposition, and the billions at his disposal. Yet Jack hasn't just funded the competing AT protocol but Nostr protocol too. Neither of them have dislodged ActivityPub as the leading decentralized social media protocol.

Certain "influencers" continue to say the Fediverse is dead, that there's just not enough memes and shitposting to make it feasible. Yet I've seen lots of data that suggests engagement is higher here on the Fediverse than on Big Social.

Now the doubters say that the Fediverse will die because corporations will adopt it. There's lots of corporations already here, many with competitive products (remember Cloudflare's Wildebeest?), and still the Fediverse's independent spirit persists.

Let's remind ourselves that those spreading fear almost always get it wrong.
