An element of "ritual" is part of every addiction. If you have the same morning routine every day and coffee is part of it, it is almost impossible to quit, because you are basically following a string of "triggers" that lead you to coffee.
If your mornings are chaotic and different, then it is totally possible to skip all the triggers, get out and get going and not miss coffee at all.
My dad is a heavy smoker. There are tons of triggers at his house that make him want to smoke. But when he visits my in Singapore, ALL these triggers are gone (and smoking is basically illegal almost everywhere anyways), so he has no issues whatsoever to go cold turkey and all of a sudden be a non-smoker for three weeks.
