Absolutely, one time payment on relay level would arelady solve most of the problems, on client level you can have WoT like Coracle, and filters like Amethyst. But if we start getting too complex setups your notes might not get through and you don't know why and new npubs might have a lot or barriers to entry, a LN payment is still the easiest one in my opinion.
