In Nostr you put your stuff on a relay or relays. In self-hosted ATProto you keep your stuff in your instance and then your instance puts its hand up to get indexed by a relay or relays.

In Nostr you keep your keys directly. In self-hosted ATproto you keep your instance directly, and your instance in turn holds your keys.

In Nostr your media is stored off-relay. In ATProto your media is stored on-relay.
