The only disadvantage I see here is in moderation, like I can't just block mastodon.social anymore. And I'm going to be picking up a lot more of their slack, especially if we get another repeat of the crypto scam. But honestly I'm okay with that.
I think this is an alright solution to the problem and I think we should solve the decentralization problem inside these constraints. Make a campaign to push more people off the big server. Etc.
